I was diagnosed last week with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC). I'm told of all the types of lung cancer, NSCLC is the "best," most treatable type of lung cancer.

I thought I would take a moment to reflect on some patterns in my writing, some secrets about writing about death, dying and surviving.
This is my first public speaking event about my heart transplant. I talked about my journey and the need for people to register as organ donors.
A 4 year update, since the day I was list on the Heart Transplant Wait List. "As of today at 4:26:05 CST I'm officially on the ♡ Transplant List! I'm excited because I've given blood, sweat & tears since mid-June to this process, so I'm relieved. I'm also fearful. Mixed emotions-today is a big day. I'm so grateful to you for your ongoing support. I need it!"

At 15 years old, I had bone cancer and one of the chemo drugs gave me heart failure. At 39 years old, I had a heart transplant. Four months after my transplant, I discovered I had breast cancer. I had a double mastectomy, then weeks later and just 2 days before my 41st birthday, my Mum died after losing her battle with ovarian cancer. Then at age 44, I was diagnosed with lung cancer.
